Should You Buy An Electric Gate?

by Emma Kilpela

Are you considering purchasing an electric gate? If so, you should know that there are many excellent advantages to owning an electric gate. Thus, it's in your best interest to take the plunge and make the purchase!

Superior Security

To begin with, having any gate, electric or not, lends a sense of security and privacy to your home. When you have a gate, you essentially have a barrier between your home and the outside world.

An electric gate just adds more privacy and security, because you control when and if it opens. Many people attach intercom systems to their gates so that they can hear who is there before opening the gate, which they can do remotely. Others have visual systems in place so they can actually see who is there before they open the gate.

Imagine never having another door to door salesman or other "walk up" appear at your door again. That can happen if you install an electric gate.

Convenience

As mentioned, electric gates can easily be controlled by a remote. When you have a standard, locked gate, that isn't an option. That means that, every time someone arrives at your door, you have to exit your home, walk all the way down the driveway, and open the gate yourself. When you have an electric gate, however, you can open, close, and lock your gate with nothing more than the touch of a button.

Gate remotes are very sophisticated these days too. Some remotes aren't even "real," tangible remotes; instead, they exist only as an app on your phone, tablet, or computer. There are even gate remotes that can handle other household functions, such as managing your thermostat. Even if you have a remote that works solely for your gate, pushing a button is a whole lot easier than getting up and manually opening the gate, and a whole lot cheaper than hiring someone to do it for you.

Save Space

Finally, electric gates can, if you wish, be a lot smaller and less conspicuous than standard gates. A wide range of electric gate models, including models that open upward, similar to a garage door, are available these days.

So, instead of having a long horizontal gate that takes up space, you could have a gate that rests and opens vertically for a smoother, more streamlined look and more space.

Obviously, there are many benefits to having an electric gate, so if you're on the fence (no pun intended), the right choice should be clear.
